Scrappbooking for Me

Besides my 12X12 albums, I still keep up with my kid's 8 1/2 x 11 albums f/k/a baby books. My daughter Chrissy is 20 and my son, Matt is 17 and I really don't know how to stop. I still need to update Matt's album with 11 years of little league baseball pages that I just had to redo (I may need another binder). I find it hard not to redo the whole book. I have this urge to update all the pages with all the awesome paper and embellishments but when I think about how, the desire to leave it as is, is stronger. I can still see myself as a young mother scrapping when I didn't have a clue. I would just put pictures and write a few words before I knew the whole process had a name. My kids love to look at their books over and over. And when a new friend comes over, usually a new boyfriend or girlfriend, they always end up with the giant binder on their lap going over the story of their lives, my world in a book. Here's my latest for Matt's book.

Happy Birthday to Me!

Finally 45. OK, so now I'm closer to 50 than 40. This is when everything starts to fall apart, right? NOT if I can help it. Slow start, no weight loss to report yet. I spent my birthday weekend with the Midnight Quilters. Beth cleaned out her living room to make room for all our tables, 5 in total. We had a beautiful view of the lake. Saturday, September 6th, was a beautiful sunny day. We spent the day looking at movies (BTW "27 Dresses" is my new favorite movie) and switching to the Weather Channel for updates on Ike. And though I was grateful that Florida was spared I was saddened that Cuba would be Ike's next victim. Why can't they just disappear and leave everybody alone? I made 3 quilt tops and did some binding for some friends; very productive weekend. Next Saturday I will scrapbook at Scrapbook Central and focus on my vacation scrapbook X 7.

September

I love September. Not just because it’s my birthday month but traditionally it is when school starts; new clothes, new backpack, new notebooks, pens ahhhhhhhhhh new beginnings. September is also the month when autumn begins. I love to decorate for the fall. I love Florida but I miss NY because you can clearly see the transition from summer to fall. Soon the leaves will turn and the temperature will start to dip a little. I’m one of those nuts that enjoy the cold weather. This part of the season is also a favorite because you start to prepare and look forward to great holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas. And so, in honor of my favorite month, I start my long awaited DIET. I’m excited and scared. This is not my first attempt so pray for me. Not that I’m skeptical it’s just that I understand myself. So I promise not to be too brutal to myself and not to overdue it like I usually do (I can take the weight off, I just can’t keep it off) and take it slow so it stays off. I will follow the Weight Watchers program and start off by walking real slow. I do this for so many reasons but mostly for health reasons. My mother is a diabetic and I see how she suffers and how her children worry. I won’t do that to my kids just so I can have a love affair with Big Mac. Nope I’m done. Sorry Mr. Big, I’ll miss you.
